So, up until yesterday, bath time was a drama filled event for Ella. It appeared that this supposed "calming, soothing" bedtime ritual was just the opposite for her. While she was still small enough, we were using the little basin that the hospital sent home. Adam had to hold her up while I washed her. And she cried. Me and my mom tried the kitchen sink. And she cried. We tried a larger baby bath tub. And she cried. Finally I found this little contraption of my sister-in-laws in storage at my mom's house. I put it in our tub, hopped in with her, filled it up with nice warm water, and...........TUH DUH!!!! A cry-free tubby time! Yeah!!!! This may not seem like a big deal to you, but to a mom who has been wanting this bonding experience with her baby daughter, it was a great accomplishment :) She is almost 6 weeks old now. She also has started to give smiles!!! She gave my mom two good smiles on Tuesday, and today she has smiled at me several times. It is so nice to get some positive reinforcement from you baby. You start to wonder if they are happy, or if they love you...(silly, I know, but my hormones must still be out of wack!) so a little smile here and there does so much to boost your confidence as a mother! I will attempt to get a smile on camera and post it so you can all see just how dang cute and special it is ;)

I am happy that you got your bonding bath time!! I am glad you found that at your mom's house... I think Ella may have enjoyed it because she felt more comfy it looks comfy and if you got in with her it was a lot better than being alone especially she probably felt safe with you by her side... I am glad you got that experience natty and I really hope she smiles when I am around soon... She is Beautiful and I love that you update a little more on here. Love P
ReplyDeleteI totally understand feeling like you have an un happy baby that maybe doesn't love you or life for that matter. I cried all the time in the first month of isley's life cause I swore she hated me. And then at 6 weeks she started to smile and I quit worrying! Ella is so cute! We are still wanting to have a bbq but I have to get past next weekend and then maybe I can plan one!
